How to test Autorouting on another continent? |
|
|
Suppose you live in US, that you uploaded European Metroguide and you want to test if autorouting works. Normally your GPS uses your current location as a starting point for a new route so it seems to be a problem. There is a way however.
To test it do the following:
You can set a point where you supposedly are, for example somewhere in Paris. Then you can navigate to a point a few blocks away.
Todo this for Nuvi:
Make sure GPS antenna is off (antenna tucked in), choose map, and zoom into the place you want to start the simulation. Press the screen where you want to start and choose SET LOCATION on the bottom. Next, move the map and choose your destination and press the GO button.
Todo this for Zumo:
Make sure GPS antenna is off (Go to: Spanner > System > change GPS Mode from Normal to off). Then drag the map to the location where you want to test, zoom in to some place and tap "Set Loc". You can then search for something nearby and tap Go and it'll ask if you want to simulate the route.
Todo this for Etrex/Gpsmap:
Go to the satellite page. Click Menu key and choose "Use with GPS off". Click again menu key, then choose "New Location" from the menu. "Use map" to move the pointer to the starting point. Go to map page and pick a point a few blocks away from your starting point and choose "Goto" with "Follow Roads".
