What is MetroWizzz? MetroWizzz is our free Windows tool (wizard) with which you can upload MetroGuide maps (Metroguide Europe or Metroguide North America) to your GPS unit including indexing and address information. After the wizard has finished it's possible to autorouting capabilities of your GPS unit. What's the difference with MetroGold? MetroGold is our Metroguide upgrade tool which can upgrade your Metroguide to include souting info when using Mapsource to upload maps to your GPS unit. MetroWizzz has more or less the same purpose as MetroGold however there are a few differences:
What versions of Metroguide are supported? MetroWizzz has some compatibility issues with Metroguide Europe Version 9 and Metroguide North America Version 8; because of it address searching won't work on your GPS if you use it with these Metroguide versions. So only Metroguide Europe Version 8 and below and Metroguide North America Version 7 and below are supported by MetroWizzz. Don't use Metrowizzz on Metroguide Europe Version 9 and Metroguide North America Version 8, get MetroGold instead. I want to combine Metroguide and topo (or other) maps on my GPS unit, can I use MetroWizzz? No, MetroWizzz has compatibility issues when it comes to combining Metroguide and Topo maps on your GPS; because of it autorouting won't work. Don't use Metrowizzz if you want to combine Metroguide en topo maps on your GPS, get MetroGold instead. What is the total size of maps I can upload with MetroWizzz? With MetroWizzz you can upload a total amount of 1 Gb of maps (including the routing information) to your GPS unit. Don't use MetroWizzz if you want to upload more than 1 Gb of maps (incl. indexing and addressing information) to your GPS, get MetroGold instead. Uploading maps to the GPS unit is so slow, can't it be faster? Uploading is much faster if you don't upload maps directly to your GPS unit, but upload the maps to your memory card in a card reader. Run the wizard and in step 5 choose "Save the maps in IMG file only". Choose "GMAPSUPP.IMG" as filename, location on your local harddrive. After the the IMG file is created, copy it to your memory card through Windows Explorer. I have trouble uploading maps to the GPS unit? The wizard uses a seperate tool, called Sendmap20, for uploading files. Apparently not all Garmin GPS devices are recognized by this tool (i.e. NUVI 360). If your GPS unit shows up as a USB drive in Windows Explorer or if you want to upload the maps to a memory card in your cardreader, you can overcome this problem as follows: Run the wizard and in step 5 choose "Save the maps in IMG file only". Choose "GMAPSUPP.IMG" as filename, location on your local harddrive. After the the IMG file is created, copy it to your GPS through Windows Explorer. I have Metroguide Australia installed, can I use MetroWizzz? No, Metroguide Australia is NOT supported. Only Metroguide Europe and Metroguide North America are supported by MetroWizzz. What version of Windows do I need? MetroWizzz was built and tested on Windows XP Professional. It will also work on Windows Vista, but it is NOT compatible with Windows 2000. Make sure you have administrator rights in Windows before you use MetroWizzz. What kind of GPS unit do I need? You need a Garmin GPS capable of routing (i.e. Etrex Color, GPSMap etc.) Where can I get MetroWizzz? Revert to the download page. I live in US, so how can I test autorouting of European map (or vice versa)? See the Tips and Tricks section, click here My question is not listed here?
