What is MetroGold? MetroGold is a Windows tool with which you can upgrade your Garmin MetroGuide Europe or Metroguide North America installation. After the upgrade it's possible to include routing calculation data in your upload of maps to your GPS. No extra software, apart from Mapsource, is needed, you transfer the maps with Mapsource. I have Metroguide Europe and Metroguide North America both installed, which one can I upgrade with MetroGold? You can upgrade both with Metrogold. See also the MetroGold compatibility list on this website. I have Metroguide Australia installed, can I upgrade with MetroGold? No, Metroguide Australia is NOT supported. Only Metroguide Europe and Metroguide North America are supported by MetroGold. See also the MetroGold compatibility list on this website. I have City Navigator / City Select installed, can I upgrade with MetroGold? No, only Metroguide Europe and Metroguide North America are supported by MetroGold. There's no point in upgrading either of these anyway because they can already upload routing data to your GPS. What you are probably looking for is a tool to unlock City Navigator / City Select. This is not what Metrogold is about. What version of Mapsource do I need? MetroGold is tested with version 6.12.x, 6.13.x and 6.14.x. MetroGold will probably also work on older and newer versions of Mapsource. You can get a free upgrade for Mapsource on the Garmin website. Will MetroGold continue to work on future versions of Mapsource and Metroguide? It's hard to say. It depends on what changes Garmin will make in it's software. What version of Windows do I need? Metrogold was on Windows XP and Windows Vista. It will probably also work on Windows 2000. Make sure you have administrator rights in Windows before you use MetroGold. What kind of GPS unit do I need? You need a Garmin GPS capable of routing (i.e. Etrex Color, GPSMap etc.) Where can I get MetroGold? Revert to the purchase page. I live in US, so how can I test autorouting of European map (or vice versa)? See the Tips and Tricks section, click here My question is not listed here? Revert to the forum, see if your question is listed there. If it's not, ask your question there.
