Metrogold Introduction

Upgrade your Metroguide to a "Gold" product with MetroGold! With MetroGold you take your MetroGuide to the next level using all the functionality it can offer.

In Garmin MetroGuide, North America and Europe version, automatic route calculation is offered in the PC only. There is no route calculation data that can be transferred to a GPS even if it has autorouting capabilities. With MetroGold you can make your GPS capable of autorouting with MetroGuide maps. MetroGold will upgrade your MetroGuide to have this functionality. You can upload up to 2Gb of maps to your GPS.

What do you need?

A PC with Mapsource installed, nonlocked MetroGuide maps (only Metroguide Europe and Metroguide North America are supported for now, see also below), a GARMIN GPS with autorouting capabilities (i.e. Etrex C-serie, GpsMap etc.).

How does it work?

With MetroGold you will upgrade your MetroGuide to have the extra functionality of routing capabilities on your GPS. After upgrading you can select the maps in Mapsource and upload them to your GPS using Mapsource. The maps will be routable on your GPS.

What's the difference with MetroWizzz?

MetroWizzz is our free Autorouting MetroGuide Wizard which you can download from this website. MetroWizzz has more or less the same purpose as MetroGold however there are a few differences:

You will need MetroWizzz every time you switch maps in your GPS whereas you need MetroGold only once to upgrade your Metroguide.
MetroWizzz is free, MetroGold is not.
Total size of maps (incl. routing and indexing information) you can upload to your GPS for MetroWizzz is 1Gb, for MetroGold it's 2 Gb.
MetroGold works flawlessly with the latest versions of Metroguide whereas MetroWizzz has some compatibility issues with Metroguide Europe Version 9 and Metroguide North America Version 8; because of it address searching won't work on your GPS if you use it with these Metroguide versions.
Using MetroGold you can combine Metroguide, Topo and all other sorts of maps on your GPS whereas MetroWizzz has compatibility issues when it comes to combining Metroguide and Topo maps; because of it autorouting won't work.
