During a direct upload it asks you to save your file as a .img file. It does not appear that mapsource will allow me to do this. Can anyone help?

Hi,
The idea is that you go through all the steps in Metrowizzz and save your upload in the last step of MetroWizzz as an IMG file.
Then the next time you want to upload the same map, you can use direct upload to upload the saved IMG file. This way you don't have to go through all the step in Metrowizzz again.
In short, you don't save the img in Mapsource, but in Metrowizzz.
Hope this helps...

Let me start over with my real problem. I am using metro guide 7.0 and I want to upload maps to my GPS using metrowizz. I also want to include different fishing maps from my fishing hot spots. When I try to upload them all at the same time, it doesn't give me the lake graphics that I normally get when uploading it alone. How do I get all the road maps and the great details of the lakes I am going fishing at?

Sorry, you cannot combine these two maps and have routing when using metrowiz.
Use metrogold instead if you want to combine metroguide with other maps and have routing on your gps.

I've just downloaded metrogold but am still unable to see the fishing maps. The metroguide 8.0 works good along with the autorouting capibilties, but the lakes that I have selected only have the light gray box around them, but no lake detail. Is it possible to have these lakes and the autorouting of the roads all in one download? If so what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Bryan

The problem in thsi case probably is:
If you upload two maps of the same area, your GPS unit will only show one of the maps. In your case it is probably showing the metroguide map and hiding the fishing map. It is possible to hide the metroguide map on your GPS, so that your fishing map becomes visible. It depends on the type of GPS that you have how to do that. Here's an example of how to hide a map(set) on an Etrex: http://www.geodude.nl/community/content/view/31/62/

I hope this helps.

"I just got my Nuvi a couple of days ago, used Metrowizz and made up 476 megs of Europe maps. Thats way more than I will need for my vacation. I copied the file as suggested into the Garmin directory on the Nuvi...works great. Thanks for Metrowizz and your help in getting it up and running. I changed my location to places I will be staying in Europe and it routes to my destination with street names and turns called out. Garmin makes great products, you make them work better. Thank you!"

"Outstanding Product - worth its weight in Gold! This is just a terrific addition that makes the Garmin Etrex a great little GPS instead of just an ok device. For $6 (US) it cannot be beat. I certainly hope they continue to create products that support the Garmin GPS portfolio. Well done guys!"
