Transfering MetroGuide to a Mac 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Garmin has made a conversion software set that converts Mapsource software such as MetroGuide to a form readable on Mac computers. First MapConverter changes the map software to a compressed "tgz" file (a zipped tar file). The Mac software opens the file, and makes it available for upload or for Garmin's Mac browser "Bobcat".

If I buy MetroGold and make MetroGuide a "Gold" version, will the files on the Mac be able to autoroute also? Has anyone tried this?

I was going to ask the same question, Parsa. Sorry to see that no one knows. I was also wondering if MetroGold would ever be Mac compatible.

"I just got my Nuvi a couple of days ago, used Metrowizz and made up 476 megs of Europe maps. Thats way more than I will need for my vacation. I copied the file as suggested into the Garmin directory on the Nuvi...works great. Thanks for Metrowizz and your help in getting it up and running. I changed my location to places I will be staying in Europe and it routes to my destination with street names and turns called out. Garmin makes great products, you make them work better. Thank you!"

"Outstanding Product - worth its weight in Gold! This is just a terrific addition that makes the Garmin Etrex a great little GPS instead of just an ok device. For $6 (US) it cannot be beat. I certainly hope they continue to create products that support the Garmin GPS portfolio. Well done guys!"
